It is almost July... oh my

It is almost July, and I have not accomplished much of what I had hoped to by this time in this year... I always have grandiose plans in January, when everything is new, but money, time and crap get in the way.
People at work (and a friend from long ago who heard enough stories when we got together) think I should write a book/screenplay/tv show. I don't know about that, but once I get going, it does seem I have some stories.
Last Friday, I was driving to work...all happy because my barely working A/C was working all the way to work, when a guy in a large truck next to me at a light, not 4 minutes from work, was waving wildly and saying something that looked like "you've got a hat on top of your car!" When I finally rolled down the window, he was actually saying, "you've got a CAT on top of your car! ... a big orange one!" which I knew as soon as he said cat on the car... We have a large orange cat named Jr. (we had another cat named Squash, who was orange, and almost got squashed by a car and after she died, this guy wandered up, all orange and 'squashy' looking, so he was named Squash Jr.) Jr. seems to like nestling in the luggage rack on top of my Xterra, and sometimes (this is his second trip to work) does not jump down when I start the car. So, again, telling the story when I got to work, they all - again - decided I had SUCH a life, so much chaos, so funny, that I should write a book, etc.
Instead, I am writing it down here, where NO ONE will see it, apparently, but at least I am documenting.
Next time I will 'document' my frustration with my middle child. Something to look forward to, huh?

quickly

We just celebrated my grandson's first birthday... at Chuck E Cheese. I remember now why I quit having parties there when my kids were little.... AACCKK!!!
Too many people, too loud, bad pizza, games that don't work... he didn't actually care, since he IS only one. And I suppose the little kids they invited liked it. They enjoy loud, bad pizza, and games whether they work or not. Having a cake for Noah to dig into by himself is a tradition, but this was not a good place for that. Hard to clean up chocolate cake EVERYWHERE. But he liked it....and it made for good video. It is possible I should have had some beers.
Now he is with his dad for 3 days while his mother takes a vacation (spring break, as she is a perpetual student, on a 10 yr. graduation plan).. Of course, I miss him.

explanation

I thought I would explain the 'rainlily' in the title... because I know 100's of you are curious..
When I was a young mother.. well - a 35 yr. old mother, never was a really young one - I was working several part time jobs and taking care of 2 young children. I needed an artistic outlet. A friend who also had young kids told me about a Texas Dept of Agriculture program for selling local handmade items. We got together through our husbands' political aspirations, and would hang out at all the various Farm Bureau conventions and political fundraisers (this was a whole new life for me, but more on that later). ANYWAY, we both came up with handmade items and got ready to sell them at a booth at the state fair. I had made some Christmas cards with hand carved lino cuts, so I decided to add some notecards with bluebonnets to the product line. The Dept. of Ag people said we needed tax numbers and all that official stuff, so I had to come up with a name and register it. I happened to live out in the country, in a trailer (there was a reason I swore I would never live in a trailer, and now having done it, I swear again), and I loved the rainlilies that would pop up after every rain. I didn't have to plant them, or take care of them, and therefore did not kill them, as I could easily do with plants. So I decided to name my company Rainlily Productions. I thought, rather grandiosely, that I would expand to all kinds of products in the future, so I should have a BIG name for my company... hence, the 'Productions'.
So now you know... and I am sure you all care...

Well, this is new... blogging.... not like I have time for it, but here goes. My daughter has one, and several of my friends's daughters have one....maybe that is a hint that this is not for old ladies. But then, I am not really an old lady.. my mom is, my ex mother in law is... not me, no sir.
As I am working right now, I will finish this later, or rather post again soon....
