trying...

I am just testing my mental capabilities. I couldn't remember how to log in to write.. I guess I just had to sign in and then click on new post. In error, I believe I signed up to follow my own blog. That is sad. Well, at least it will look like someone is paying attention. My topic today is my middle daughter.. not all of her many ill-fated episodes, just a wish for her court date today to go well. Or, as well as a court date can go. I know deep in her heart she means well. She has a quick temper like her father, and will say and do really mean things when pushed. Sometimes this does not serve her well. She has to learn to control this bad temper/reaction. She has made some REALLY poor choices, and has not particularly learned from any of these, that I can tell. If only her good heart and good intentions would take over her poor choice making, she wouldn't get arrested for carrying pot in her car while on probabion for ...you guessed it... carrying pot in her car.
She has a son who will be 3 next week, and is working towards a degree in nutrition. She is smart (with the exception of her propensity for marijuana). Hopefully if this is not a devastating outcome, she will continue on a good path, for Noah and for herself.

long time....

Well, my children think I have early-onset Alzheimer's. I can't remember things, sometimes words, sometimes events, sometimes things they swear they told me already... (I think it is a conspiracy to make me think I am old and feeble... THEY forget to tell me things).
I could not remember my login to get into this blog. That is sad... again a hint I might be too old for this. But I don't actually think you can be too old to write. A friend a work usually calls me on any hyperbolic statements I make... me - "I am old" D. - "get over yourself, you are only old if you act it" me - "I HATE wearing glasses, want to wear contacts til I die" D. - " sometimes you have to do what works, glasses may be your only answer at some point, live with it"

You get the drift... sometimes she is almost mean (...and of course, I cannot pull any of those from memory at the moment maybe that is best), but she doesn't suffer fools easily. She will call people out at the lunch table for stupid comments (and these are engineers, some young and silly, some older but not older than us... and still silly, so the stupid comments are usually quite forthcoming), and I am almost cringing, embarrassed for them. She doesn't care so I am never embarrassed for her.

The fact remains, I have trouble pulling words out of my head sometimes, and I suppose I do forget things I have been told, and I know I forget where I put things, but after 60 years, I think I am entitled. Besides, with 3 kids - one unemployed, two in college, one grandchild, falling down house, stressfull job, and all these years of intake... I am full up and I think things are just naturally falling out now.

I am trying to avoid working, cause I can't do much with what I have right now, as I am waiting on someone to fix things I cannot fix before I can proceed. Hence this silly missive.

I noticed in the initial offerings, I keep saying "more about that later" . I suppose I should fill in those gaps... maybe next time

working

Working 12-15 hours a day is fine when you are young... now, at 60, not so much. Yes I turned 60 3 weeks ago. My children (Maren) had a surprise party for me, and the turnout was wonderful! My whole family -except the sister in Utah- came, and friends from work, Lockhart, supper club (my ex husband's college friends) ((not his friends anymore)), and even a friend from Six Flags days of yore... But, as it is almost 11, I will have to regale you later on the festivities....

It is almost July... oh my

It is almost July, and I have not accomplished much of what I had hoped to by this time in this year... I always have grandiose plans in January, when everything is new, but money, time and crap get in the way.
People at work (and a friend from long ago who heard enough stories when we got together) think I should write a book/screenplay/tv show. I don't know about that, but once I get going, it does seem I have some stories.
Last Friday, I was driving to work...all happy because my barely working A/C was working all the way to work, when a guy in a large truck next to me at a light, not 4 minutes from work, was waving wildly and saying something that looked like "you've got a hat on top of your car!" When I finally rolled down the window, he was actually saying, "you've got a CAT on top of your car! ... a big orange one!" which I knew as soon as he said cat on the car... We have a large orange cat named Jr. (we had another cat named Squash, who was orange, and almost got squashed by a car and after she died, this guy wandered up, all orange and 'squashy' looking, so he was named Squash Jr.) Jr. seems to like nestling in the luggage rack on top of my Xterra, and sometimes (this is his second trip to work) does not jump down when I start the car. So, again, telling the story when I got to work, they all - again - decided I had SUCH a life, so much chaos, so funny, that I should write a book, etc.
Instead, I am writing it down here, where NO ONE will see it, apparently, but at least I am documenting.
Next time I will 'document' my frustration with my middle child. Something to look forward to, huh?

quickly

We just celebrated my grandson's first birthday... at Chuck E Cheese. I remember now why I quit having parties there when my kids were little.... AACCKK!!!
Too many people, too loud, bad pizza, games that don't work... he didn't actually care, since he IS only one. And I suppose the little kids they invited liked it. They enjoy loud, bad pizza, and games whether they work or not. Having a cake for Noah to dig into by himself is a tradition, but this was not a good place for that. Hard to clean up chocolate cake EVERYWHERE. But he liked it....and it made for good video. It is possible I should have had some beers.
Now he is with his dad for 3 days while his mother takes a vacation (spring break, as she is a perpetual student, on a 10 yr. graduation plan).. Of course, I miss him.

explanation

I thought I would explain the 'rainlily' in the title... because I know 100's of you are curious..
When I was a young mother.. well - a 35 yr. old mother, never was a really young one - I was working several part time jobs and taking care of 2 young children. I needed an artistic outlet. A friend who also had young kids told me about a Texas Dept of Agriculture program for selling local handmade items. We got together through our husbands' political aspirations, and would hang out at all the various Farm Bureau conventions and political fundraisers (this was a whole new life for me, but more on that later). ANYWAY, we both came up with handmade items and got ready to sell them at a booth at the state fair. I had made some Christmas cards with hand carved lino cuts, so I decided to add some notecards with bluebonnets to the product line. The Dept. of Ag people said we needed tax numbers and all that official stuff, so I had to come up with a name and register it. I happened to live out in the country, in a trailer (there was a reason I swore I would never live in a trailer, and now having done it, I swear again), and I loved the rainlilies that would pop up after every rain. I didn't have to plant them, or take care of them, and therefore did not kill them, as I could easily do with plants. So I decided to name my company Rainlily Productions. I thought, rather grandiosely, that I would expand to all kinds of products in the future, so I should have a BIG name for my company... hence, the 'Productions'.
So now you know... and I am sure you all care...

Well, this is new... blogging.... not like I have time for it, but here goes. My daughter has one, and several of my friends's daughters have one....maybe that is a hint that this is not for old ladies. But then, I am not really an old lady.. my mom is, my ex mother in law is... not me, no sir.
As I am working right now, I will finish this later, or rather post again soon....
